Google map has launched its new features of detecting speed limits, speed cameras and mobile speed cameras in more than 40 countries worldwide. These features were previously limited to the selected market of Google’s navigation app namely Waze.
Google confirmed the list of countries that are allowed to see speed cameras, this list includes: Saudi Arabia, Australia, Brazil, U.S., Canada, U.K., India, Mexico, Russia, Japan, Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Morocco, Namibia, Netherlands, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Tunisia, and Zimbabwe.
Though the availability of these features for all the Google Maps users in these markets is uncertain but it has been reported that the speed camera alerts are activated in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Google Map has been indicating the speed camera with its voice navigation along with the icon of the camera on the road. The speed limits are mentioned at the bottom of the navigation.
These features are available for both Android and IOS users. However, Android users are also allowed to report mobile speed and stationary cameras while IOS users are only limited to receive updates for now.
